The pile-up to get on this bridge which Google maps had us use to get to Halifax was intense! We didn't have the correct change a cad dollar coin because we hadn't looked ahead to see what we would beed for tolls. Our fault. What struck us both as visitors from the USA was the way people behave in traffic. We inadvertently held up the line until a gracious attendant rescued us with change for our bills, and NO ONE beeped or yelled at us.

Welcome to NS, Canada, where people are actually polite in traffic. Not only that but the bottleneck to get on while disorganized was civil. You won't find that in major US cities in the northeast. And I personally apologize to all Canadian visitors who have and are yet to experience out crappy road manners in the Northeast US. So, this is a review to publicly thank and acknowledge the kind manner drivers who patiently tolerate us Mainers and our less civilized fellow drivers in nearby states.

You are not even allowed to walk across this bridge. Much better to go to the MacKay Bridge that is closer to the downtown and offers much better views of the city and harbour.

This bridge is the older of the two bridges over the harbour and will give you a more dramatic view but it is slower going across and can be really clogged during rush hours.
