Who owns code lyoko

Due to the merger of Antefilms and France Animation , Moonscoop 's bankruptcy, complexity regarding franchising and international broadcasting, and French intellectual property laws; the history and status of the intellectual property rights of the Code Lyoko franchise is an extremely complicated topic.

This page is an attempt to map it out. This article is not meant to be legal advice for legal matters in France or any other country; nor is it meant to be legal advice regarding intellectual property. If you require advice regarding intellectual property laws, consult a lawyer of the correct jurisdiction and specialty. Code Lyoko was originally created in France.

Under French law, audiovisual media is considered collaborative work, meaning a work that has been created by multiple authors. The authorship is granted to natural persons co-authors that have created the relevant work: scriptwriter, author of the musical composition etc. French law recognizes two types of IP rights: moral rights and proprietary rights. French law states that the relation between authors and producers is such that their relations shall be formalized in a contract in which the author assigns his proprietary rights to the producer.

When property and moral rights conflict, it's usually settled via court. Because of this, all of Code Lyoko's original creators, outside of licensing, hold the original moral rights to the components of the franchise they worked on. The moral rights are outlined in French laws.

The moral rights include but are not limited to rights to the integrity of the work, the right to withdraw it from circulation, the right of publication control, the right of attribution, and the right to transfer the moral rights to others upon death. They may not surrender them by legal agreement or sell them.

Proprietary rights are more like traditional copyright laws internationally. The second season focuses on the group as Aelita adjusts to life in the real world while Jeremie searches for an anti-virus for Aelita. In Lyoko, a fifth sector is discovered and the group explores more of Lyoko's secrets and mysteries, while X. In the third-season finale, the group is joined by William Dunbar. Once virtualized in Lyoko, William is possessed by X.

He remains under X. While the show's target is young people, the plot contains enough to satisfy any viewer. There is a constant subplot of romance, Aelita's past is amazing and the character evolution is brilliant. The animation is really good, considering when the show was made, and I truly recommend watching the show. Lyoko is a magical place, and the plot is so well-made You don't see these shows anymore, do you? Also, if you were enchanted by the show, as I was, you'll probably like to read the books that continue the show.

They made a continuation of the show CL Evolution but it lost its magic due to it being non-animated. It also has important messages, and it's appropriate for all ages.

Give it a shot. Code Lyoko is one of my favorite shows of all time!!! I decided to re-visit it as an adult recently and the show really proves it can interest a multitude of age groups. When he turns it on he find Aelita, who is held prisoner by the "bad guy' virus Xana. Xana can effect both the computer and the real world. First I want to mention some of the shows problems. Although mainly in the first season, the animation can be clunky, and voice acting a little off.

However, when this show does something well, it does it great! First off, this show feels "lived in", in most shows where the kids go to school, you barely see it. However the way each character works off each other, feels like friend groups I had when I was there age. They aren't all equally best friends, which is believable, such as Ulrich and Odd, Jeramy and Aelita, and Ulrich and Yumi are the closest pairings. Also the romantic relationship between Ulrich and Yumi is all over the place, but still feels true to the age of the characters.

And has kept this hidden from his friends, when they find out, he's distant, embarrassed and angry. I find it incredibly believable that the cool, well liked, and athletically confident character would react this way. This was a admittedly a long winded review, however I felt it was worth mentioning. Code Lyoko is French, just to clarify the situation, not Japanese. I find the show repetitive but still amazing. Fortunately for me, Cartoon Network has started to play the episodes from Season 1 Epi 1 - to the end?

Since I wake up at about 5. I can't necessarily say what kinds of people would like it. Especially since i like a variety of things. At times when watching it, it gets a little 'intense' but there are still also funny possibly cheesy parts.

I highly recommend at least watching it once just to get you own opinion, but just to full warn you the first episode doesn't explain much about what you'll more than likely want to find out about, if you've heard about it from friends, or somewhere online OR offline.

Cool Show Drafonis 28 August The 2D characters are drawn interestingly, with many sections unrealistically expanded. The 3D versions are brilliantly made, and are on the level of such video games as the early "Delta Force" titles. I would rate the graphics as 6 out of 10 because of minor problems. It deals with virtual worlds. However, the handling of the plot is superbly done.

The plot is rated 10 out of The characters either change spontaneously or not at all. For example, one of the characters has been the same since episode 1. On the other hand, one character changed his whole outlook on the main characters in three seconds! I rate character development with a 4 out of Despite the often subpar voice acting, poor character development, and confusing story progression the episodes usually end with them going back in time to the day's start , I would say that this show has the potential to be remembered as a classic on the level of "Dragonball".

Code Lyoko is given a 9 out of 10 because of minor problems. The first thing I should say is that Code Lyoko is a french Anime, and I believe it is set in France, although there isn't anything that can confirm that. My little brother first started watching Code Lyoko about half way though the first season.

I started watching it and ended up getting hooked myself. The show is about a group of kids I'd guess they're somewhere between 14 and 16 years old. However, like any good there is a bad. In this show, the bad comes in the form of a "virus" named X. To access earth it must activate a tower on Lyoko, and then while on earth it is usually represented by a dark gray semi-transparent smokish thing.

It will wreck it's havoc on earth, and to stop him the group must go to Lyoko and help a virtual girl named Aelita get to the tower to de-activate it. With the addition of season two adding the mystery of a possible creator, the show has had more depth. Over all, it's a great show. I'd give it an 8 out of 10 because of small problems. What happens when you put a boarding school,a super computer and a bunch of teenagers together? You get code lyoko!

Code lyoko is about a bunch of kids who find a super computer in a abandoned factory. With a little help from a super smart computer wiz Jeremie they soon find out that they can go into the computer and have powers! Sounds cool huh, but there is a catch because of this super world there is a evil source called xana, Xana trys to destroy the earth the only way to stop Xana is to help a virtual chick who lives in the computer and can enter a code that stops xana, but not forever!

There are 5 main characters Odd The cute joker Ulrich the sulker! Yumi the not-so-shy girl Jeremie The brains of the operation! Together they stop xana and save the world! Lyoko is what they call the computer world. There is no taste, smells or feelings in lyoko. The only light through the black tunnel is the gentle computer chick aelita!

There are also monsters in lyoko a crab like monster, a ball like monster, a wasp like monster and more! All the monsters work for the evil xana! I LOVE this show! Try it out see how it fits. I am sure you'll love it! Code:lyoko blulizkat 1 April Code:Lyoko is my favorite show! I love the new season with Aileta! But the shows are getting frustrating to watch But yeah, I love the characters, and how there is more than one plot to a show, like between Ulric and Yumi, and sometimes with Odd and another girl, but Ulric and Yumi's conflict is always present in the shows.

I really like the opening song, and all the music in the episodes. Jeremy, Ulric, and Yumi's heads are too big.. Odd's head is small I love his clothes, and his hair! Odd is my favorite when they go to Lyoko. Anyway, I hope they don't get X. Or else there wouldn't be any more episodes to watch!!! I think everybody should watch this show. I want to learn French now, just so I can see the French version too!! Although it's probably the same. When they first came out with Code:Lyoko, I was really confused, but I caught on after a while, because thankfully, the plot is easy to understand and the characters are easy to memorize.

They all have their own personality, which I believe is a very good trait in a television show. This show is appropriate for all ages, and is very humorous at times! Other times it can be sad, and sometimes it's confusing, but you always figure out everything in the end. I think the return to the pasts' are interesting to watch, because you always know whats going to happen, but you are curious to how things change. Even if I haven't seen a whole episode, I still watch the end no matter what, because I can get almost the whole plot out of just the last few minutes, and the return to the past scene.

I recommend this show to anybody who happens to read this!! Nice Show gazdudeman 8 April Personally i think this show is an escape from the usual anime titles that are currently popular. This show is easy viewing and the plot is pretty easy to pick up after two or three episodes.

Basicaly its about four kids that create their own computer game but somehow it is infected by a virus. From then onward these kids spend all their time defending the world from this virus Xana , protecting their cyber friend Aelita and going to school.
